AuPix Ltd was established to acquire all of the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and the assets of the mm745 IP Videophone from the SCOTTY Group plc, formerly Motion Media plc. The agreement was announced to the London Stock Exchange by an RNS Reach release on the 9th February 2005.

AuPix founders, Graham Brown and John Martin, were former directors of Motion Media plc, a company recognised for its technical innovation and expertise in the field of personal video communications.

As well as significant personal investments from the directors and most of the employees, funding has been secured from selected external private investors and venture capital from the South West Ventures Fund.

The company starts with a team of people predominantly made up of the key engineers who were largely responsible for developing the IP videophone.
