AuPix today announces the availability of a SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) compliant version of its industry leading IP video phone, the AP-100.
"This latest addition to our portfolio enables the AP-100 to be integrated into a company's IP telephony system. It will replace the telephone handset on executives' desks" said Graham Brown, AuPix managing director, "enabling not only audio calls but video calls as well, all from the convenience of their own office."
SIP has been adopted by the VoIP community as its protocol of choice. SIP builds on the convergence of data, voice and video onto a single network, by providing a standards based approach enabling IP communications with numerous devices and applications. SIP can set up individual voice or conference calls, video conferences and point to point video calls between any number of SIP enabled endpoints such as IP phones, PC's, laptops and PDA's. SIP will give companies more options and flexibility in building converged networks.
John Martin, chief technical officer from AuPix said "SIP is easier to deploy, manage and use than legacy H.323 systems. SIP has been added to the AP-100 to allow VoIP users to experience the benefits long known by the video conferencing community; reduced travel costs and greater integration of disparate work groups. In one coherent package, the AP-100 adds video, web browsing and bespoke applications to the desktop."
