Austrian soldiers stationed in Kosovo are brought closer to their families by the latest in video communications.
AuPix's AP-100 video phone provided immeasurable relief for Austrian soldiers on a NATO mission in Kosovo by helping them stay in touch with their families. The soldiers who endure long and strenuous separations from home are now able to chat face to face with their family and friends.
The AP-100 video phones were installed in the Austrian Army barracks by AuPix's partner, the SCOTTY Group plc. SCOTTY's high-data rate connection enabled the AP-100 to provide high quality audio and video, making it possible for the soldiers to see and hear their whole family as though they were in the same room.
Installation and testing of the demonstration multimedia stations at the Graz Austrian Army Base and at Camp Casablanca in Kosovo began in April 2004. Each location allowed the soldiers to contact their families at no cost. The service was made available to the soldiers allowing them to communicate via video with their families at the Austrian International Operations Command at the Base "Belgierkaserne" in Graz.
